The next best thing to being given a camera for free is finding one at a bargain price in a second-hand store – like this little Konica C35 EF-P for the same price as a cappuccino!
It seems to have been in my bag for aaaaages, I carry it everywhere and take a snap here and there, whenever I remember – I’ve been doing this since January and I finally reached the end of the film at the weekend!
You forget just how dark it gets in January – I doubled-up on a few shots, with and without the flash. I needed the flash! Flash doesn’t always look great though – apart from on this telegraph pole – I love what it’s done to this shot!
However – look at the difference a couple of months and a bit of sunlight can make…
It’s a very basic camera – just two choices of ISO (100 or 400), the flash on or off (it’s good that you can force the flash NOT to fire) apart from that you just point and shoot – the focus isn’t always brilliant, but this isn’t the sort of camera to seek perfection with – it’s a camera for character and surprises!
And it doesn’t seem to mind when I shoot straight into the sun, either, which is good.
So, this is going into the ‘needs lots of natural light’ pile of cameras – lets hope I got lots of opportunities to use it!

Love these photos though, the last one and the telegraph pole especially. Its amazing how much difference the light does make I agree.

How do you take such lovely pictures with such a simple camera? Huh… I guess, all your really need is a black box with a hole in it… but still, these are spectacular. Hey, where do you get your film developed? Back in the olden days, I would take my film to the supermarket to be developed (I know, I know… Slapped wrist) but they don’t do that kind of thing anymore. No money in it with all the digital stuff I guess. So where do you go?
I’m really lucky, there’s an old-school camera shop not far from me and they develop all sorts of film still – Boots do too and some of the bigger supermarkets (but far fewer these days – and even then they send them off, they don’t develop them on the premisis any more). Failing that there’s mail order.
On the (very long) list of things I want to try is developing film at home – you don’t need much equipment or a dedicated darkroom – watch this space!
I think my husband would kill me if I started taking up even more space with darkroom equipement… So, you know, I may just have to send my film to you to be developed when you get your darkroom! Ha! I do have a few places round where I live that will develop film but they are far too intimidating: very high end, arty, snooty places. I can’t really imagine they’re the kind of place you can take a roll for a wallet of 5x7s… Boo.
Seriously Cass – if you send me film I will get it processed for you!

These are such lovely photos~! Love the ones with the flowers! I’ve been trying to get into film, too. All I need is a REAL film camera and not just a superheadz (which I have). ♥
