When the leaves change their colour in the autumn you suddenly realise how many trees there are in the city…

Another surprise

Look what I found in an old coat pocket…

I was as excited as if I’d found a £5 note (but not as excited as if I’d found a £20 note – that never happens though).

Cashmere soft

I don’t need to explain to you about how much I love my Polaroid SX-70 camera do I? You know by now I’m totally camera crazy; likely to be found in my dotage with a tin-foil hat, wheeling round all my cameras in an old shopping trolley! I go from one extreme to the other; top-of-the-range dSLR and lenses share a (large) camera bag with 1960s Polaroids, and various other film cameras (one of which was found in a skip and is held together with gaffer tape).

I love them all but the Polaroid SX-70 is my not-so-secret true love – it has a unique softness giving everything a dreamy, soft and *gorgeous* quality that can’t be replicated!

Well, my SX-70 has a younger and flashier (literally – it has a flash) cousin – the Spectra. Given the right conditions (e.g lots of light so the flash doesn’t make everything look too ‘caught in the headlights’ and artificial) it can produce some great photos. Really lovely.

However, I am now a very, very happy bunny as I have just discovered if you feed it Softone film instead of regular film you get, as the name suggests, beautifully soft and atmospheric photos, not unlike an SX-70!

What does this mean? Well it means my stash of cashmere-soft, joyfully-coloured, wonder-film has now increased so I can fill my blog with even more Polaroids. That makes me happy, hopefully it makes you happy too :)

Driving miss crazy

AKA August Break XXVIII

I did something today that I haven’t done for… nearly two years!

Even though I’ve been driving ever since I passed my test as a teenager (many moons ago) for some reason, ever since we became a two-drivers-one-car family I drifted into becoming a full-time passenger.

This was by no means because I was discouraged from getting behind the wheel, far from it – it just kinda happened. Anyhoo, today I finally decided to take the diving seat and remedy the situation before I lost my nerve forever, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it all came flooding back.

I drove down to the beach which was pleasant and easy enough, then into town – definitely more challenging but I managed it in one piece! And so, it may take a little while to get back to my whizzing-here-and-there without a care driving style but I am definitely back in the saddle.

(We may only have one car but we I do now have two Polaroid SX-70′s, these were taken today with the newbie and he’s definitely a keeper).

Chaos. Total and utter. Taking over and engulfing me!

I need to sort things out and I need a plan.

Beach

Yesterday was fab, today was fab too but yesterday I got to go to the seaside with my long neglected Polaroid (the Spectra)…

I wonder if this tap has ever had his photo taken before? I love the crispness of shiny metal in the sunshine.
