A sunny day (about flippin’ time – August here in the UK has been a total washout).

Tuesday (but feels like Monday because yesterday was a Bank Holiday).

Pay-day (hooray, I am rich… for about half an hour, then the direct debits kick in).

The last day of August (you can’t argue with the calendar, believe me I’ve tried).

The last day of August Break (it’s been handy having an excuse to be a lazy blogger and only post photos some days… hang on though, that’s kinda what I always do! Plus I’ve discovered some great new blogs I might never have done otherwise).

The last day of summer (hopefully not though. Although I have to say that if it wasn’t immediately followed by winter then autumn would be my favourite month; autumn, summer, spring then winter. Bloody winter).

The day I forgot to take my lip balm to work with me (suffering badly, have made a bulk order of Burt’s Bees pomegranate variety to make sure I have plenty of back-up in the future).

The day I took this photo (with my Polaroid SX-70, of course)…

This is the lovely orchid I got for my birthday a couple of months ago – it has now gone te way of all houseplants in my care and is a petal-free stem looking very forlorn. Here it is in happier days…

I spotted this in one of my favourite vintage shops on Etsy – it was love at first site and he fits perfectly on my windowsill. I know, I know, I’m supposed to be getting rid of stuff!

I have at last discovered my non-decaffeinated hot beverage of choice; mint tea. I tried the Twinnings one which was nice enough to pique my interest but a bit too toothpastey. This one by Pukka is much more rounded and ‘grown-up’ – maybe because it contains three different mints. OK, I may have bought it for the gorgeous packaging but I’m sticking with it for the taste…

I’ve not seen the film Crossing Delancey since I put ye olde video casette recorder out to pasture many years ago. It was my go to comfort film; whenever I was off work sick and stuck alone in my flat with no one to do my bidding I would put this on, wrap myself in a duvet and feel the love (and the puzzlement as to why having a pickle shop could be seen as as a bad thing). I may have to see if I can get hold of this on DVD and relive that love and comfort.

Anyhoo – the reason I mention it is because this poem is quoted in it – based on the Chinese Book of Songs, I adore the imagery and simplicity…

ripe plums are falling
now there are only five
may a fine lover come for me
while there is still time

ripe plums are falling
now there are only three
may a fine lover come for me
while there is still time

ripe plums are falling
i gather them in a shallow basket
may a fine lover come for me
tell me his name

You know how people think blogging is just people going on about what they had for breakfast? Well, here’s what I had for breakfast! Those blueberries by the way were homegrown and freshly plucked from the garden this morning. So simple to grow. So difficult to protect from naughty blackbirds!
