I like to hang around graveyards; spooky, derilct Victorian ones, full of hidden paths, secret tombs and overgrown ivy. I was a bit of a goth during my teenage years, that must be why.

In other news, we had an unexpected vistor to the garden on Sunday. A very friendly racing pigeon who decided he needed a break on his flight back to Cheltenham (from goodness knows where – I googled his number). It was strange being able to get so close to a bird, but so sweet to have him eat food from our hands. After eating, drinking and having a little nap he decided to continue on his way – I hope he got home OK!

Wistfulness & wisteria

And, exhale. It’s all over (in so many ways). Yes I am still banging on about politics and yes, I am being a little melodramatic. Sorry. Time for drawing lines now; time to dust off and start again.

Anyhoo – today I had the afternoon off work and enjoyed a sunny walk with a camera or two. Whilst it was sad to see all the blossom fly away we now have all sorts of new flowers to enjoy – including this gorgeously smelly wisteria…

Here are those peonies again – I had to photograph them because:

a) the’re really pretty

b) they are an unusual ‘single’ variety rather than the regular stuffed type, full of an impossible number of petals

c) look at how huge they are

d) I’ve not been out of the house today and I had an itchy shutter finger

See the “fire” in the grate – that’s on because I was freezing cold today. Luckily the illusion of fire was enough to warm my cockles (they’re actually fairy lights).

And today is also the first day of ‘Roid Week. So… guess what…

I had to take them out into the sunshine for this – that SX-70 really needs lots and lots of light to be happy.

I then spun 180 degrees and took this one too – I like how it look likes night time…

Tomorrow I plan to actually leave the house and I promise plenty more Polaroids (no peonies). x

Not much to report today – only that I can’t believe we’re approaching the end of April. Aleady! Blimey, that went quick. At least it has meant an end to snow, ice, and photos of bare naked trees – now those branches are covered in pom-poms! Happy.

Looking out

I’ve been feeling a bit trapped lately – not in a negative way, but I feel like I am tied to either my home / office / familiar places and am rarely get to escape for more than a couple of hours at a time. What I am doing when I am holed up is good and productive and enjoyable but I am feeling very much like I’m on the inside looking out on everyone’s fun on the outside.

Having an out-of-date passport is a bit of a hindrance too – when that’s sorted out I will at least have the potential of getting away for a while (volcanoes permitting). More paperwork! :)

Lots

Who was it that decided that 24 hours would be enough hours for a day? They were very wrong, there needs to be 30, at least. I’m guessing though that if there were that I would still be moaning (in the same way that no matter what size your handbag, be it tiny clutch bag or huge shopper, it always gets filled up with stuff).

Thankfully though the magnolias are blooming and everything’s beginning to GROW and that’s enough to gladden the busiest soul. I’m off to add more things to my ‘to do’ list – at least I can now cross off “blog something for chrissake”.
