Look what I was wearing when I read about Holly Becker’s Stripe-mania projectette – it was easy-peasy to quickly hit the snapshot button on my webcam…

I’ve never been to a windier place in my life! I’m sure it’s not like that all the time in this little West Sussex seaside town, at least I hope it’s not. My goodness, it was like being thrown into a pretty, beach-hut strewn wind-tunnel! It was worth it though, I love being by the seaside (although I felt about 100 when I had to seek sanctuary from the wind in one of those graffitti’d shelters).
I did manage to take a few photos though – I was scared the Polaroids would either fly away or flap and bend in the wind and get all sticky icky (they do that) so as well as digital ones my little fuji instax mini managed to hold up in the extreme conditions…

I’m off work this week, for a mixture of road trips, adventures, gentle days at home, oh, and two lots of birthday cake (Mark on the 8th, me on the 10th). Today was one of the mainly at home days, but it didn’t stop me getting out my Polaroid. I think I’m finally getting the hang of the lighter/darker wheel on my SX-70 and managed this reasoably steady shot in a quite low-light.

Don’t you just love natural, seasonal blooms like these Sweet Williams? What are your your favourite flowers?

Like all women, I’m the consummate multi-tasker. Perhaps as a result, I’m not satisfied with just one avenue for creativity. I enjoy photography, cooking and painting, as well as writing and print making. In the photographic medium I tend to focus on portraits and love to experiment with multiple exposures, adding texture and allowing for the occasional happy accident. I tend not to be too anal about making art. Rather than focusing on the product, I am interested in the process of seeing and allowing the medium or subject to guide me toward an end result.

Talk about disparate interests! I’ve never been one to be satisfied with just one focus in life. Wrestling with a mind that is both analytical and creative, I have spent most of my life with the feeling that I’m being pulled in many directions at once. Ironically, I’ve achieved all but becoming a fire[woman], although some say I can be a little fiery at times so I’m certainly thankful for those that have gone into that profession on the off chance I should spontaneously combust.
The five ways I re-energize:
- Being at the beach
- taking baths
- yoga
- dancing
- camping

I am lucky to have lived most of my life within walking distance of the beach. Both of my grandmothers were swimming instructors, so I learned to swim when I was 6 months old, became a swim and surf instructor myself and have always felt much more comfortable in water than out. Whether laying in the sand, surfing, open ocean swimming or just spending time with my toes in the sand, the beach is a place that always feels like home.
Other things that help me to re-energize include hiking, travel, spending time with friends and being creative.

Finally, a project I can totally get on board with as in entails my two of my favourite things – coffee and photography. Adbeus uses the same frame for each picture: the coffee to the right, the table as a background and the camera from the top….
