Lavender London part one (Deptford)

I popped up to London last week! I had such a good day, I was visiting the brilliant Leonie, who if you haven’t checked out should do so right now – she takes the most beautiful photos and writes fabulous poetry too. I know!

We started our day in a renovated railway carriage at The Deptford Project – I can definitely recommend it if you fancy somewhere a little different for lunch; the food was super tasty and you’re guaranteed a window seat!

As you can see, I took my camera (my Pentax K1000) loaded with Lomography X Tungsten 64 film.

wet

I’ve never used this before – it’s colour corrected to give natural tones when shooting under tungsten light bulbs – however if you’re out in summer sunshine the colour temperature is completely different so anything could happen! I’ve seen examples ranging from fluorescent pink and purple though to bold blues – and then subtler tones like the lavender hues I achieved here. I think a lot of the wilder effects are due to some other cameras only having ISO settings down to 100 whereas I was able to set my camera at the required 64 ISO. I rather like the effect!

Luckily I had enough sunshine to benefit from this super-low ISO (although there were one or two downpours to dodge along the way).

Part two and a different bit of London tomorrow!

Hi Angie! I loved the photos! I now want to give the Tungsten film I try, I was avoiding it because I thought the results would be too crazy for me but now that I’ve seen yours I really liked it! Any tips other than setting ISO to 64? How about over or under exposing? Thanks!

I’ve seen those crazy shots – I’m not sure what makes them quite so nuts! I think it’s something to do with the correct ISO being set on the camera and the length of the exposure – i need to experiment some more!
As for tips – on the camera I used all my shots were a little on the bright side so I would slightly under expose if anything – a different camera might be fine though. Do let me now if you do shoot a roll, I’d love to see!

After seeing your wonderful shots I’ve changed my mind about this film! I’ll give it a try though I really don’t know how I’ll manage with that super-low ISO here in Ireland!
