The last day of summer?

I’m rather fond of early autumn days, there’s just so much syrupy colour and texture everywhere plus the residual heat and light as well as minty fresh memories of summer to keep spirits high.

Winter is approaching, yes, but this year I’m excited about it. We should all be excited about it! Shhh though, more about that soon, soon, I promise – in the meantime here is one of my favourite things in the world to photograph; a white horse (some friends of his can be seen here)…

It’s a bank holiday here in the UK and that means the fair is in town!

I thought this would be a good opportunity to test (ahem) my new camera which I had just loaded with film. More about those pics later. Here’s some of the the walk we took to get there – through the old Victorian cemetery – quite a juxtaposition; couldn’t be more different to a fun-fair!

After going out for a wonderful Sunday lunch to celebrate my brother and niece’s birthdays we walked off the roast beef and yorkshire puddings down by the river…
