1. Laugh everyday.
2. Be gracious.
3. Imperfections are ok.
4. Don’t fight.
5. Put your camera down now and then and experience the moment through your own eyes, not a lens.

Five things I’d tell my ten-year old self:

1. Wear sensible shoes. Wear sensible shoes. Wear sensible shoes.
2. When you get to college after high school, commit yourself immediately to school, not skiing.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
4. The bears in Yellowstone aren’t going to get you. When you live there later on, get off your duff and on the trail.
5. Wear sunblock. Blisters are not fun and it’s perfectly fine to be pasty white.

Five things I’d splurge on after winning the lottery:

1. A vacation home with waterfront on Payette Lake in Idaho.
2. A vacation home in Springdale, Utah with the best air conditioning money can buy.
3. A vacation home with oceanfront in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
4. A beautiful, brand new Mamiya 7.
5. A completely restored Volkswagen Westfalia with a nice new engine and other essential parts, a pop-up camper and racks for our bikes and kayaks. Orange please!
